only watched it once - couldn't get into it...gonna give it another go cos i think david cross is a v. funny guy

ever see mr. show? very fujnnny!!

been downloading episodes of the ben stiller show off peter brady (GUY WHO RUNS THUJPED HAHA) and they some real funny shit. v. strong cast - stiller, garofalo, bob odenkirk (also mr show with cross - comic gneious if yuo axe me) and andy dick (who i like a lot more in this tahn anything else) - sketch comedy. obviously they all went on to much bigger things...well except bob O. but he played 'porno gil' in that episode of curb your enthusiasm, which outshines everything those other dudes ever did.

Oooh, this Ben Stiller show sounds great. I have all four series of Mr Show, and most of the episodes are now committed to memory. I need more shows to get on DVD and watch obsessively. Hm, this deserves a new thread.

So is Arrested Development worth trying to watch? Or is it pretty much just a standard sitcom?

I've watched this for the past two weeks* and it's my new best friend.

*sorry for not responding until now but i thought this thread was about the band.

I get very excited whenever I get a chance to see this show. That's just about never, but as Pantone pointed out, you don't need to follow the story at all. Can you get it on DVD I wonder? I've given up on the notion of trying to catch shows on TV and think I shall just buy em on DVD and watch at my leisure in future.

Oh, and re. Mr. Show - what I've seen has been pretty funny

I got the first season on DVD a few weeks ago, and watched all of it within a few days. Now I'm sad and want the second series, but for that, I'll have to wait.

Fucking excellent stuff. The kid who plays George Michael Bluth (Michael Cera, I think?) is deadpan funny far beyond his years. Apparently, most of the cast are in awe of his comic talent.

The episode where Tobias does an audition for the fire sale at some boutique had me urinating on the furniture. I  David Cross. Also, Bob Odenkirk as the marriage counsellor was brilliant.
Need more of this sort of thing.

why does tv3 always have to change their schedules at such a time it's too late for newspapers (apart from the great "irish times" - though it does publsih some crackpots on it's letterpage :), it doesn't even go to the bother of updating their own teletext about the changes

it's al;l a cunning ploy to try to force peop,le to watch the hopeless just shoot me

i have only seen a few episodes of "arrested development", but it -along with "curb your enthusiasm" which i have also seen not that much of- give me real hope for american tv comedy. really witty, well writted stuff. and no laughter track! so so so refreshing after so many awful sitcoms that try to smack their punchlines across your head while insulting your intelligence. that said, british comedy has been generally of very poor quality also, with only a few exceptions. how garbage like "bo selecta!" can be successful i cannot understand.
