Any gigs on in Dublin tomorrow night? (1 Viewer)

On Friday 15 September, in the Pallas Studios (Foley Street) at 8pm, an
album launch party for LUFTKLUSTER/LUFTFLUKS...

Luftkluster/Luftfluks is the second album in an ongoing series of LP
editions by Canell & Watkins. Following The New Heat/Obscured by Light
projects, the new album further expands the duo?s joint commitment to
generate subjective fluctuations between structured and free-form
melodies. Combining found objects, instruments and other analogue
mechanics with organ, guitar, voice and custom built percussion, the LP is
as volatile as the material it is made from.

The open songs of Luftkluster/Luftfluks hover in midair, occasionally
interrupted by angular signals from electro-physiological instruments or
the hypnotic humming of a 6.25 meter tape-loop. It flows from vocal
interludes to fluxing fluorescent noise, blending rootless percussion with
damaged flickers of electric drone organs. The unpredictable nature of
Luftkluster/Luftfluks? humid melodies exists somewhere in between
spontaneity and determinacy; a quiet, ephemeral collage of alternating
altitudes.

Rather than operating within the traditional format of a band, the
projects by Canell & Watkins take on various shapes and forms, allowing
them to move freely from live improvisation to sculptural installations,
found sounds and structured song writing. As a consequence, the name of
this duo continuously shifts along with the intention and context of each
project. When performing they integrate their diverse practices into a
dense and highly idiosyncratic live set.

Luftkluster/Luftfluks comes as white solid vinyl in a handfolded edition
of 250 numbered copies.

There will be a exhibition of images from previous shows, and free compilation cd featuring acts which have played RVW over the past two years will also be available on the door. The cd includes tracks from corrugated tunnel, filabo, LPX, the last sound, spectac, maganatek, hoovers and sledgehammers and many others.

The Last Sound
Barry Murphy has been producing electronically-arranged music of one form or another since the early 90s and under the name of The Last Sound since 1997. Influenced by out-there rock as much as electronics, The Last Sound's music often takes unexpected turns. The highly praised album B'locks appeared in 2002 on Warp-approved Dublin label Front End Synthetics, and a collection of material from 1997-2001 called Skids was released in 2004. His music has appeared on several compilations and plays live with alarming regularity, including past supports to Damo Suzuki, EAR, Scorn, Lackluster and Ambulance among others. Two new albums, 1mEyes and Frieze are due shortly...

Lakker
Lakker have been together for a number of years writing electronic music, anything from droney ambient to ravey breakcore to death metal sampling electronica. '....fractured time signatures, squalls of noise and weird sampled strings...' in the words of one reviewer. After featuring on various compilations, a major release is planned for later this year. Lakker also have a hip-hop side project called 'Jenny and The Deadites' with MC Jen.

The Spook of the thirtheenth lock
The Spook is Allen from Holy Ghost Fathers/ Ballroom of Romance. Named after a poem about a haunted canal lock, the Spook plucks banjos and twangs guitars. He yelps, drones and hums songs about dead revolutionaries, partisans and haunted cobblestone streets. Live the Spook plays solo with guitar banjo and effects or as a band with Enda Bates aka Fairlights (bass), and with Donnchadh Hoey (gutiar) and Brian O'Higgins (drums) both of the late great Steerage

The story of hair
Story of Hair are a youth group collective of local and unlocal young offenders who are likened to post noise art rock.
