Explain to me this, why do Russians and Poles find Nazism and its trappings a draw? Isn't it sorta the same as African-Americans joining the KKK?

I'm not being a smartarse, I'm genuinely curious as to why this would happen.
it's because they have no brains in their heads and are drivin by bloodthirst and deep-rooted erotic desires towards men in shiny boots

S that's an interesting answer but it doesn't directly address why they find Nazism in particular alluring.
ravishinrikrude, I think your answer seems plausible.

Coz after many years of political repression and living in abject terror of the state, Nazism is probably the most immediately empowering & fraternal political movement and allows instant catharsis/retribution on a variety of easy targets. And it's handed down to subsequent generations and so forth...that's one aspect of it anyway...

That or they like wuvvelly shiny heads and hilarious oversized boots.

ah right - i'd assumed you meant fascism, in the broader sense.
do they really find nazism so hot? are they actually all marching around with swastika flags and ss uniforms and gearing up to invade france? clearly, then, they're all just big film buffs with a liking for leni riefenstahl.

It's terrible that those guys were murdered and that the government in Russia is ineffectual to say the least.

I dunno about the ex-soviet countries, but I imagine it's the same reasons as for those ex-DDR (East Germany) kids who were drawn to it after the Eastern bloc fell.

Basically it's rebellion: they hated the East, the government and the communists, so the natural thing was to be the opposite, a nazi. The same way lots of young Western kids want to be socialists or anarchists, as rebellion. It starts off with a barely understood "A" sign, or "Fuck Authority" badge or something, and then will either be dropped or developed into basic ideas about the ideology and then dropped, or else will be developed into the person being an actual socialist or anarchist or whatever, for a small percentage.

Probably, it's far more empowering to be a nazi if you've got lots of mates who are too, so I can see why it's growing. In the Eastern European countries, strong nationalism existed loooong before Stalin came along, now that's he gone it's returning to that in a purer form, and the logical conclusion of proud nationalism when you believe your country to be stronger & better than others, is national socialism. For Russians especially, the struggles they've faced throughout history are incredible, and the fact that they've survived and are rising once again is probably very attractive to lots of people. Not all that different to Israel & the zionist jews -they were almost completely wiped out, so when they rise again they're saying fuck you to a world that tried to exterminate them; we're stronger, better, thus ending up in totalitarian rule.

I would have thought America is national ego in it's purest form.

America has no basis for racially motivated political organisation, especially not by white people. If those dumb hammerskins cunts got the race war they're lookin for they'd be ruined by the hispanics and afros!!

Also a lot of the Eastern Bloc countries (including Russia) have long and ingrained histories of popular anti-Semitism going back a coupla hundred years, this was often stirred up by governments of the time e.g 'The protocols of the elders of zion', jewish ghettos in many cities, pogroms, blaming jews for disease, myths of child sacrifice,

i thought that was only in cartoons.

not only in cartoons - i just found out today that john cage did it too when he was giving out about glenn branca's 100 guitar orchestra:

But some modern musicians have been repelled by Branca's works, including the late composer John Cage, who described the music in terms of "evil and power". "I don't want such a power in my life," Cage declared. "If it was something political it would resemble fascism." Branca claims that the grudge developed over his "old-fashioned" compositional methods.

glenn branca, what a nazi

I blame the History Channel and all it's contrived WW2 glorifiying and 'Hitler In Colour' and 'Hitler Speaks' documentaries.

i thought maybe the implication was that a country where the dominant race are usurpers of the land has no basis for telling other people to 'go home'.
but that's probably a bit simple-minded of me.
