i cam imagine it would be very hard to return to 'normal' life after such an ordeal - not to mention the psychological implications (hearing a noise behind you, thinking you'll be kidnapped again, etc)

that's the shit thing about these situations. you're released and it's great to be free but your mind is still plagued with all the memories of your capture and stuff.

still, i think were he ever to write a book about his time in gaza over the three years and his kidnapping that it would be a very interesting read.

I'm sure he'll write the book.

The first reason is practical, if he's giving up being a BBC correspondent then he'll need something to live off. I don't think the internets will be doing a whiparound like they did for John Smeaton!

The other reason is psychological. Being able to put all of his experiences down on paper and sharing it with the world will help bring closure, America's favourite overused buzzword.
