Needs to get out more
Folks,
I just wanted to draw your attention to a highly affordable mastering solution in the form of one Simon Kenny (a.k.a. Schroedersound). He doesn't claim to be a professional mastering engineer - he isn't. But what he does have is a pair of sensitive, experienced ears (his own) and an extensive knowledge of the ME's tools of the trade: EQ, gating, expansion, compression (single and multi-band) and limiting. He also knows his Genelec monitors really well.
The Rollers/Sparkers EP "Geography for the Leaving" and the album "Second Level Crossing" were both mastered by Simon and we were very happy with the work he did on them. If you liked the sound of them, you need stuff mastered and you can't afford to pay someone 100 brick an hour, then PM me and I'll give you Simon's contact details.
Again, he doesn't claim to be a pro ME with 25 mysterious black boxes and a perfectly dry room, but he's an affordable alternative who happens to be very good. He also makes a fine cup of tea.
