Advice on starter guitars (1 Viewer)

Anyone know if those starter packs from the likes of Squire etc are any use? I've been asked to help someone get a guitar for a gift for someone who's never played before. It's someone in their 30's so they could easy not keep at it so something relatively cheap is probably best.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I got a Squire from Argos many years ago- great guitar. Perfect for a starter. You also get a little practice amp and a chord book or something as well.

Ibanez do starter packs too, Id probably lean towards one of those before the cheapo Fender / Gibson ones personally

How do the Ibanez ones look? I imagine he would like more of a classic type guitar shape so leaning towards Squire or Epiphone would make sense.
I should probably just look up Thoman or something.

I'm sure they're all fairly good.

A beginner wouldn't notice the flaws that much anyway.

I had a look on thomann earlier,there's some cheap stuff for starting allright. I'm gonna pass on the info.
Does X-music come close in prices does anyone know?
