Hi, I'm selling my access Virus TI. It's in excellent condition. I bought it second hand about six months ago for €1250. If you can give me what I paid for it you can take it off my hands. I wont sell for anything less so don't waste your time offering I wont reply...

Haven't you ever heard of depreciation?

You clearly haven't, it applies to property and cars, not music equipment. And I'm the same, out something up for €500, you get "I'll give you €400"
I'm sure he feels his price is fair.

it is a fair price, but if i found out after paying 1250 for something that i could have got it for 1000 i'd feel violated. and thats mental. music equipment depreciates, otherwise there wouldnt be a second hand market really, and proof of it is that he's only asking 1250 for it, not the new price.

Hey, uh... sorry for starting a bit of argy-bargy there... this is why I shouldn't be on the internet while drinking...
To be honest, I had no idea what they cost new, it was just the first thought that popped into my head when I read the original post...

My bad, I shall now leave this thread and never come back...

Yeah, second hand things should cost a little less, but they don't lose 10% per year like. If that was the case, you could get an old one for €100! I bought an American strat, sold it for €800. But it doesn't cost less for one from the year before, and I wouldn't feel I had to lose money Just cos I've owned it. That guy can sell that for €800 by all means if he can get it, depending on wear.

I agree with you, I hate feeling like I'm having a rip off attempted on me, which happens a lot in Ireland I have to say. I refused people saying "€600", I just said: "no, I don't haggle, I offer at a price I think is fair."
