The film is confirmed as being titled Cloverfield. Trailer was released yesterday online. You can see the monster bust through the buildings at precisely 1:29 (1:25 in the Empire version). Its looking deadly all round.

The trailer contains 22 frames in which one gets a short glimpse at the creature. Although the footage is shakey and the beast is half obscured by a building, freeze frames reveal that the monster has no body hair (its dark, reflecting skin is clearly visible), walks on its reptilian-like hind legs and has a swinging tail. All in all (and judging from what is visible), it has a striking similarity to a giant Tyrannosaurus Rex or Roland Emmerich's version of the Godzilla character.
