The 'Bands I don't Get' thread (1 Viewer)

Black Country, New Road. Just the most up it's own arse thing I've heard in years, and it's a pity because I think their offshoot band, Jockstrap, are feckin' amazing. Was hoping they'd be great.
I would like to rescind this remark. I maintain the stuff with the old singer is a load of toss, but by god they've revitalised themselves with the line up change, new LP sounds amazing!

Even when they were in their prime, they were awful. Though I have a soft spot for the song they did for Terminator 2 because that movie is awesome.
Gunners were much better than most LA hard rock. So there's far worse.
Mr. Brownstone and Night Train are good songs.
I want to read Duff McKagen's bio as he was in a lot of punk bands in Seattle (Fastbacks, Fartz, Ten Minute Warning and lots of others)

Guns N Roses.

The fucking worst.

I liked them when my early teen brain was flooding with testosterone or whatever.
It's a lost era but also the sound of of the intro to welcome to the jungle cutting through whatever the previous track was on PA speakers in bars and what not, at one point was an amazing statement piece - i guess he was trying to do a helicopter/apocalypse now type thing.
Axl was a rediculously good singer for a few years.
I don't think i've voluntarily put on one of their tunes since a research dive into the ill fated spaghetti incident. Also, in the 80s having a decent patch for the back of a denim jacket was very important and they had a really memorable one.

I was never really a Guns fan but heard them a lot 35 odd years ago. I probably think Appetite is a much better record now than I did in the early 90's.
I was given Slash's bio and one strange thing was after they signed to Geffen they began to write a new set of tunes and scrapped nearly all the stuff they'd already written.
