Opinion: If this analysis of Dublin's transport plan was submitted by a student, I would fail it

A new economic analysis claims to show a lot of problems with the new Dublin city transport plan – but it doesn’t stack up, writes Dr Barra Roantree.

I’m living in the middle of the city and pretty much each road I regularly drive is going to be closed to me or one way in the wrong direction. Supermarkets don’t deliver to the flats here so if I order, I’ve to collect it from near Pearse St train station and hope I can carry everything in 1 go, so I’m still using my car for supermarket shopping and trying to visit my family when the traffic isn’t too bad. The new traffic plan sucks for me and most of the neighbours here, but it still has to happen.

It sounds like it sucks on one level, but also you wont be sorrounded by lost people in supermacs jerseys trying to drive in the front door of dublin for the weekend shopping. Possibly.

Confused country drivers are find, it’s the confused Americans that will kill you.
Those and teenagers on our road doing wheelies on stolen motorbikes 100 times a day.

i've seen videos from alaska of car graveyards. too expensive to ship cars off for proper 'recycling' so they just pile up. there's a general problem with rubbish there it seems.

saw similar on clare island last week. standing in the remains of a 'fossilised' forest - 7000 year old stumps of trees which were swamped by rising bogs - and 100m away someone has dumped what looks like the remains of an entire demolished house.
