Binge Drinking and Hangovers - RE-SESSION TIPS (2 Viewers)

I read the other day about a recent study that found that the brains of regular drinkers were 1% smaller than those of teetotallers. The average brain shrinks a couple of percent every decade and even moderate alcohol consumption exaggerates this shrinkage. Whiskey brain.
Who would miss 1% of anything??

I love getting shitfaced.

But my hangovers are getting worse with age. I'm starting
to find it hard to have a heavy Friday and then carry on
through to Saturday and maybe again on Sunday.
My current strategy is to try and bulk up and eat a filling
dinner before hitting the sups and I try to hammer down
the water before I get to sleep.
This works with varying results until Saturday afternoon
when I try to eat again.
I zonk out and just feel absolutely knackered and it's hard
to recover from - a disaster when it looks like it's going to
be a kicking night.

So what's your tips?
Are there any alco-nutritionalists that can give me tips for
maintaining optimum blood sugar levels when I'm out
necking pints?
Do you have any tips on avoiding hangovers and keeping
your energy up on marathon weekends?

(Not looking for gak advice or other non-alcoholic options!)

And there's not a fucking thing you can do to stop it.
 
Best preventitive measure is matching your pint of beer/water intake,something Iv only accomplished once though.
Less conventional methods than the scrambled eggs and exercise advice:
Carajillos work wonders (shot of espresso and a shot of Brandy),as do ice cold Wheat beers.
Red lucozade with a dick load of ice and a few splashes of Angostura bitters.
Red wine and spicy foods.

The type of beer depends too,guinness and ales tend to be kind to me,dodgy lagers less so (although Harp has served me well)
Red wines (daycent enough ones) wont give me a hangover,although I think I may be in the minority there.


Some drinks affect me far worse than others though,Bourbon hangovers have been among the worst Iv encountered.

I got some close on use-by date Okocim (Polish 7% beer) on special last weekend though which led to a hangover not unlike death,a longing for death and how youd imagine feeling if you were the only one who turned up for your own funeral.

It was a gas altogether!
 
600 mgs of Ibuprofen before bed.
I can live with hangovers once I'm out of bed- it's waking up with a splitting head after you sober up in your sleep (about 4-5 hours?) that drives me demented.

You sure do,it helps against the dehydration.
A hangover is essentially natures way of letting you know that you're a fucking eejit,but also that you're dehydrated.
 
Would drinking a pint of water as well as a pint of beer not make you piss just as much hence becoming dehydrated/hungover?
 
If I remember his original post correctly,he was only looking for non pharmaceutical suggestions.Must be stright edge or summat.

Just reread it, I stand by my suggestion. Must be decent stuff though, preferably NY strength, that'll cure any hangover.
 
strange guy, you should pick a couple of pieces of the advice you've received and test them out. get back to us on monday with some results!
Anything that results with me not vomiting bile on Monday
morning will be declared a good result.
I'm going to try drinking 1000mg vitamin C before going to
sleep and will post my findings!
 
Watch out for the louminous piss!

That'll come in handy when he tipsily totters on his tippy toes to the toilet in the dark.It'll help him aim.
And waking up to an un piss drenched jax has got to be a good start to a hangover.
