anyone remember Ye La Tengo (Yella Tango?) at UCD's battle of the bands. 1995 I'd say.

Musta been a dozen on stage. Amazing performance.

i have heard of this from one of the participants and apparently the aim was to have as many people play the same chord untill they got thrown offstage!

They actually sound like nothing else. Horsedrawn Wishes is a monstrously brilliant album, well suppose they kind of sound a bit like the best chundering and discordant velvet underground stuff. I believe one of them is in The Radio now, and another in a band called Fortunate Sons.

What The Podster said. A savage band.

I prefer these rough Super Electric tunes to anything the others have put out thus far.

I know! I'm trying to twist his arm into letting me hear it at least.

Woah he says there is a third unreleased Skinny album...awww fuck. Release the SHIT out of it!!!!!!!!!!

at practice last week jason started playing speed to my side on bass to Steve M and he said "stop playing that shit"

there's a few ep's that you can download on the net around

Apparently Darragh Purcell threw a pint at them (he was being a judge)

that was great crack. we were last on and the judges - purcell, dj francois and any ents hangers on who felt like it - were sauced on the free heineken, using it to douse the band. we played a 15 minute version of shaker with an extra acoustic guitar coming in every 8 bars, dotted around the bar. about 20 of us in total - 6 or 7 on stage. we won the heat hands down and then got zero points in the final. salad days.

I find the production a bit underwhelming interms of the sounds being made.

I think I know what you mean, I love Horsedrawn Wishes, but sometimes you wish they had left some of the BIG reverbs and 'Kerazzy' effects alone, though it was the early 90's and digital multi effects everything was all the rage

I'm thinking of the big climaxes on Bell Jars Away, which are brilliantly arranged but some of the synth have dated and sound boxy, where as a few nicely placed guitars or a live violin or something much 'smaller' could've been more dramatic

but I think it's 'off it's time' in that respect...

this is what yr talking about, yeah?

Aye, the music sounds like it could have been more effective if it had been a bit more natural and less sonically hyped.

Shaker. That was the tune - couldn't remember the name. Did anyone record it?

Good times.
