The Ballroom of Romance is set to celebrate its 5th birthday on June 23rd with its 66th show in the Lower Deck, Portobello.
In those 5 years the Ballroom crew have put on well over 66 gigs, 2 tours and burned well over 7000 of their trademark CD-r compilations packaged with Fred Murray’s excellent graphic design.
The Ballroom has played host to a cross-genre cross-section of local talent such as Giveamanakick, Jape, The Chalets, Large Mound, The Dudley Corporation, Duke Special, Halfset and The Jimmy Cake as well as a wealth of international touring bands such as Electric Eel Shock (Japan), The Drones (ATP Recordings, Australia), Part Chimp (Rock Action Records), Blood Red Shoes (V2 records), Josh T Pearson (Bella Union Records), LITE (Japan) and The Immortal Lee County Killers.

For the 5th Birthday the Ballroom welcomes the return of Paper Cut Out, Newcastle Post Punk band, Belfast’s LaFaro and local acts Adebisi Shank and BATs. Doors 9pm, €10 entry, free CD-r to the first 100.
