What not to wear. (4 Viewers)

As a practicing buddhist I abhore the commercialisation of ideology, poaching a sentiment only to sell it back to the masses as instant street credibility.
Would you bash me if I sold out????

as being part of this band finisterre, i think i want to put some things right about what happened in gijon.
she was actually not the instigator. and the guy wearing the BURZUM-Shirt was not a visitor, but was working in this place. and he understood well, espiacially because some people translated. So when he was asked, if he would know about BURZUM being a Nazi-Band with Varg Vikernes promoting Nazi-Ideas, he said he would know, but wouldn't care, because he likes the music. We tried to explain, that wearing a T-shirt with a political slogan is always promoting this slogan. So, wearing a shirt of the most-known NSBM-Bands is promoting their music AND their ideology. If you have a look at the Burzum-website, you see that there are no lyrics, but texts of Varg Vikernes, where he is promoting his racist and fascist ideology.
We, also as a political and antifascist band, don't want to play in places that are open towards racist ideas or accepting if people promote those inside these places and we don't want to entertain people promoting racist ideas.
You can believe me, that it was not an easy decision and it was probably the hardest day on the tour. We spoke to a lot of people after we decided not to play and there have been a lot of people understanding the reasons. Also we had a long conversation with the guy, who put up the gig and i think he thought about the same as we did.
I think it was a strict decision not to play, espacially because this guy was working there and was not just a visitor that you could ask to leave.

...and now it`s your turn to lynch me.

Well, I made my version by speaking with the people involved, some of who I know, and I summarized it considerably (in a humourous and probably not very accurate way, I admit). In any case it wasn't my intention to create any polemic; I just thought it was a funny anecdote related to the subject of the thread and therefore appropriate to be mentioned. I don't think that we should give it more importance than it actually has. At least we got to see one band :).

thats a fucking bullshit thing to do!!!!!!
tell half the story and bad mouth the band involved and the way you said "she of course the instigator" and then tried to discredit her with some bullshit comment about ultra feminist. when you clearly don't even know her
or the people in the band.humourous ...nah sly!

As I said I got my version by speaking with the people involved, probably not even they understood the whole situation or didn't give me the correct information. As for joking about the people in the band, I admit it was unfortunate and I publicly apologize. I don't think it's censurable to joke about feminism and related topics but it is to do it about people I don't know and particularly in an internet forum. So if Finisterre are reading this I hope you accept my apologies.

That's actually quite fascist really. It was a t-shirt, don't be a spa.

Punishing people because they don't dress/accept/promote the kind of stuff that you like is one of the core ideas at the heart of fascism.

nah man guess you don't get it! it's antifascist when the good lads do it!:p

The whole Burzum thing is weird cause as far as I know (as pointed out earlier) their aint many lyrics on Burzum albums so people go by the reasoning that Varg Vikernes is a Nazi thus Burzum are considered dodgy. Sometimes they just seem like an easy target for punks I think, if someone was wearing a Bad Brains or 4Skins t-shirt (who both had dodgy leanings) I doubt there would've been such uproar as these bands are a bit to 'close to home' for people to really dismiss so easily.

I understand the band's reasoning I just don't necessarily agree with it.

don't think theres a single burzum lyric a listener would interpret as fascistic/racist if the music was isolated and looked at on its own.none of the lyrics are political. pretty sure there was only ever one burzum shirt that actually says something dodgy and thats not available anymore as far as i know.
bad brains comparison is totally on the money.
as is wagner being part of nearly every music course in the country that deals with the classical end of things.the music police can go fight with them?
this thread is silly as is thinking you know the aboslute truth and dictating to others what they can and can't do whether it be under the guise of fascism or antifascism.

this whole thing is just a total bullshit blow-up of expecting normal people to know all the scabby, petty little ins and outs of 'political' fashion. what normal person has the time to follow all this. who cares?
exactly

What about that Burzum song that goes:

"I hate gay people and black people especially gay black kykes and I am going to burn them all to death in gas chambers, HH"?

Pretty sure it's on one of their later albums.

love that track, i'm actually in an nsbm band, we have one song called
"the only black i want to see is the night sky!"

ah now theres a bit of a difference between not playing a gig and concentration camps......

as for bad brains i have no problem dissmissing them fuck them homophobic arseholes over rated aswell.

and burscum maybe the t-shirt or lyrics haven't but their official website promotes hes dodgy ideas so fuck em! and anyone who thinks its ok!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's one of the central tenets of national socialist and fascist ideology. You should see Hitlers writings in Mein Kampf on the various spring-summer and autumn-winter collections of various fashion designers at the time in Weimar Germany. OMG!!11!! :D :p

There's a bit of a difference between a clothing company with explicit links to and funding of fascist groups and organisations, that's been heavily campaigned against by anti-fascists and someone wearing a fucking Burzum t-shirt at a gig. Kindof inclined to agree with Nooly on this one, people need to get a grip.
