electro the new indie...? (1 Viewer)

Well what I'm describing is Dr Lektroluv, Digital Circus, Optimo, Tiga, the Calmpdown guys, Bodytonic's guys, Jon Averill, Tiefschwarz, Philth and Seki... those kinda guys.

weekly nights like Backlash and Pogo...

I wouldn't say dead at all. But if you're looking at it as a "pure" type of music, then I wouldn't really be in a position to judge.

I've been to Pogo - about 5% of the people there are there for the music.
Never been to Backlash.
All the artists you mentioned above are either electroclash or electrohouse.
All that s**t is mainstream now. Pretty much every second pop song in the charts has a big analogue bassline and drum machine beat.
It's mainstream.

i still like that first fischerspooner record. no better cat walk record than that. anybody who watches fashion tv will vouch for me here.

Yeah 'Emerge' great tune. 7 years old this year.

All that s**t is mainstream now.

Yeah, that's what surprises me i suppose. It's not just mainstream as in DJ Dave bangs it out and calls it a "chewen" but it's pop mainstream. Blonde twats from UCD, Trinity Ball, not far off prime time radio mainstream!

i don't know, there's no nights really playing that music anymore.
Tiga & Felix the Housecat & Fisherspooner (Sorry Japeo!) haven't released
a significant record in quite some time?

Can people stop using the word electro (unless it suffixed with either clash , house, pop or rock) to describe this shit.
You're making Bam sad:

Do Electro and Techno fans have big fights down Brighton Beach ala mods and rockers?

No cos they're too busy arguing over who's into electro-phunk-trip-house and who's into techno-clash-synth-italo so they just sit around with their thesauri making up different names of genres of music every time an album comes out with a slightly different use of the hi hat...
