Bambi – Alternative Rock from Dublin 1994 – 2001. An angular blend of jangly guitar rock with organ and awkward rhythm. Ben Delaney/Vox & Organ, Karl Hussy/Guitar, Dan Barry/Bass, Willie Stewart/Drums.

Formed in 1993 and started out playing old punk rock covers, Bambi released their first 7 inch in 1996 on Rejected Records featuring an illustration of the famous reindeer. Also a t-shirt appeared at this time of artwork by Boz of Nosebleed zine of a figure shooting at the Bambi reindeer.

In 1996 during an interview they disclosed their ages and some of the band were under 18 at the time, one of the owners of the attic did not allow Bambi to play in the attic anymore. For this reason Bambi played around two gigs there under different names one of which was Thumper. Shortly after this, Bambi released their cd.

Their music evolved toward deeper rock in 1998. The band released two 7 inches in 1999. They also toured in the US around twice. They decided to split up in 2001 playing two last gigs, one with Bluetip and another in April 2001 with The Redneck Manifesto in Whelans.

All three releases are available as free downloads from http://bambirock.bandcamp.com.

Here’s some footage from Bambi’s second last ever gig, recorded in The Temple back in April 2001
