In the wake of his critically acclaimed Choice Music Prize-nominated debut album “Coping Mechanisms”, solo artist Si Schroeder is back with his new single “White City”, providing a taster for the release later this year of his long-awaited second album “Holding Patterns”.
The release of the new single will be celebrated with a live performance by Si Schroeder and band plus special guest David Kitt in the Workman’s Club Dublin on Friday 22 July.
Si Schroeder’s debut album “Coping Mechanisms” was one of the most critically acclaimed Irish albums of the year of its release with influential music blogger Nialler9 and Foggy Notions magazine both voting it their No 1 album of 2006. “Coping Mechanisms” was also nominated for the 2006 Choice Music Prize.
“Coping Mechanisms” earned Si Schroeder a reputation for being a highly talented and original music artist whose exquisitely crafted and heartfelt songs combine the sounds of alternative rock, folk, electronic and experimental music to sublime effect taking listeners on a journey of soaring heights and tender depths that both soothe and unsettle. Si Schroeder delivers the intense themes and lyrical content of his songs in a honeyed vocal style over lush arrangements that seduce and wrap themselves around the minds, hearts, guts and memories of listeners.
The track “C4” from “Coping Mechanisms” features on the soundtrack to the 2010 Irish feature film Sensation.
Si Schroeder was one of 4 artists chosen to represent Ireland at Eurosonic in 2008, and other live show highlights abroad include stints at London’s influential Kosmische club, a headline slot at Berlin’s GoldmundFestival and an exclusive performance at the Chicago Cultural Center. Memorable Irish shows have included an epic set at 2007’s Electric Picnic, his unique appearance with J Spaceman at Kilkenny Castle and supports to Laetitia Sadier and Stereolab. More recently, his February 2011 show at The Grand Social earned him “Gig of the Week” in The Irish Times’ The Ticket. National TV appearances include RTE’s The View and Other Voices, and he has been a regular guest on Donal Dineen’s Small Hours on Today FM.
Now music fans can look forward to hearing hotly-anticipated new material from the Dublin artist in the shape of the haunting and uplifting new Si Schroeder single “White City”, which will be released on 22 July.
