Zildjian A Custom 13" Hi Hats (1 Viewer)

it's a lot to spend on hi-hats. or is it? i always bought my cymbals in value packs - 5 for 180 buks and the likes. i did fork out 120 for a real heavy ride though. sorry, i have no useful advice. if you play 'em and it feels like you won't be able to forget what it was like to have played them, that's a sign you should buy them. drums are so fucking expensive, it's not fair.

Watch that 'How its made' programme on Discovery, seen a piece on cymbals and its the Zildjian factory. Your man is lashing them out by the dozen so I doubt its any different from any other maker apart from the cymbals metallic makeup but they have to equal parts of whatever alloys they use anyways...just my tuppence worth.

wow, quick responses. thanks all round!

I bought a 19" avedis rock crash from him a good while back and i think i paid him on a monday and got the package about 10 or 11 days later. Very easy to deal with. I didnt pay any duty as this was before the whole crack down with customs. Even with paying duty it should still work out waaaay cheaper than buying them in ireland or the uk. How much are they on thomann??

10-11 days. that's not bad..

well, thomann ain't so good for cymbals really. I found a site called uk-cymbals.com which is more reasonable... out of curiosity I called a few irish music shops to get an idea of the price difference; the difference in markup was between €110 and €200. fucking. insane. shit.

what's the custom charge? 21% VAT or something else? if the latter, yes, it's still a fair bit cheaper... the one thing that would make me go for uk cymbals is that I reckon they would be easily couriered here by the weekend. recording this weekend.. yeah I know, last minute etc.! :)

Yeah you'll have to pay vat at 21% vat and then a customs or handling charge too i think. It will cost you an extra 40e id say to get hats from the states. If you need them for the weekend though id go with the brits.
