It's a seriously vibrant time for music with bass - dubstep, garage,
grime, house, techno, hip hop, funk, funky, DnB, soca and everything
in between are welcome on dancefloors that used to stick to their own
wee ghetto of a night. Wobble are very proud to bring you two of the
most exciting exponents of this new craziness: JAMES BLAKE and
SHORTSTUFF!

James Blake is about as fresh as it gets - his delicate yet rough
slabs of funk are a unique sound that owes as much to Parliament and
D'Angelo as any of the garage or dubstep originators. First surfacing
on Untold's Hemlock label with his own 12 and a killer remix of
Untold, he's also signed to the legendary R&S Records. Although his
releases can be off the wall somewhat, he's known for his
crowd-pleasing sets, so the dancefloor will be well catered for. Check
some of his tunes on this youtube playlist:

Not to forget Shortstuff! His tunes are all about the big energetic
vibe, recognised by releases on serious labels like Planet Mu, Punch
Drunk and the seminal Ramp Records. Once again, it's all about the
funk and the synths, but Shortstuff is more about the riddims and
propulsion inspired by garage, grime and funky. He's also developed a
serious pedigree as a DJ, dropping guest mixes for Mary Anne Hobbs,
Fabric, FACT mag, Lucky Me and XLR8R. Check some of his big tunes on
this youtube playlist:

Support on the night comes from some of Dublin's finest: Safetyboy,
Richie !k and Don Rosco, and don't forget, upstairs is Drum n Bass
Breakology with Benny Page of Digital Soundboy records, and the O.Bese
Selectah!! BIG!!!

The last word goes to pitchfork, and their description of James Blake:

"His synth lines squeal and convulse, his beats-- dubstep in DNA--
lurch like they're coming through quicksand, and his
tension-and-release chord progressions are lifted from gospel and
soul. There's a violence in Blake's productions, almost like the
music-- the massive, detuned synths; the mottled gospel samples-- is
trying to break out of the body that holds it."
