is it cos we havent had as much rain? or is to do with drainage or rivers or something. i guess were lucky in anyways.

Nail on the head. Way more and bigger built up areas.

Also, small things like the recent fashion to pave/concrete over gardens for convenience etc. less soakage.

The new housing green paper says that they will still continue to build houses on flood plains. Why? (according to a government spokeperson on the radio this morning) because 10% of housing is already on flood prone land????

Lots of farmers are already losing livestock, some water treatment plants are being flooded so about 150,000 homes have no acess to water and the RAF was drafted in this morning to protect an electricity substation which feeds 500,000 homes......
