They don't have any fire-fighting properties so what do they do? Are they just there to scope shit out and send back info to the fire engine? Is it coz they can go a bit faster and are more nimble than fire engines so they can arrive on the scene quicker and let them know if they need to send more boys down maybe?

those cars get to the fire before the fire engines. If theres no fire when they get there, its their job to light one, so as not to waste the fire brigade's time.

and its also their job to go get the snackboxes just before the chippers close.
