I think baraka is one of the best films I've ever seen - so many times I've stuck the dvd on for friends, and after initally whining about 'watchin a boring world movie with no dialogue' all of them have been ranting about how amazing it was afterwards..

Koyaanisqatsi is deadly.
Poyasqatsi is shite.
Naqoyqatsi is okay. Yo-Yo Ma's cello gets real old, real quick.
thought Naqoyqatsi was very so-so... looked like someone got a bit crazy with AfterEffects... enough with the solarization, invert, blah etc.!

but yes, koyaanisqatsi is fantastico. esp the end sequence culminating with the rocket ship. a rather fatalistic image. that's the best thing about koyaanisqatsi, it's very open to being read in so many different ways. it was impossible to find for the longest time, it's great that it's easy to get again. baraka is also great. note that ron fricke wasn't involved in the two qatsi follow ups, hence their relative inferiority.
