What television series are you currently making your way through? (4 Viewers)

Slowly paced? You think so? Start of the first episode he's a mild-mannered science teacher with a wife and two kids. End of the first episode he's standing in the middle of the desert in his underpants, with a gun in his hand, a cop car fast approaching, and two dead Columbian drug dealers in the back of his camper van!

Dude, that's also the very START of the first episode!

Started watching dexter, is good but i think i'm missing subtitles. Breaking Bad also, only two or three episodes in, has the makings of a good show but it's a bit slowly paced for me.

If you're finding it slow paced now, just wait until it gets boring in the extreme. Which would be most of the second series apart from a run of about three somewhere in the middle.

He's making great strides as a character alright, but every scene just seems to drag on forever without much happening, with the odd exception like where the wife confronts the partner, or anything involving the sister. Call me MTV-ized but it'd be great if each episode was half as long and noodly.

I would regard Breaking Bad as one of those slow buildup, big payoff type of shows.. you need the quieter character development sections to make the bursts of action more potent. They try to establish a realistic sort of rhythm with it so that the violent scenes are more shocking when they happen.

I rewatched Twin Peaks awhile back - I was a bit worried I think it'd be shit now but I still really enjoyed it..

I couldn't really get into Nightstalker - it wasn't terrible though maybe if he wore a powder blue suit and a straw boater i'd of liked it more :)

UPC recently added ITV3 to the basic pack, so i've been recording all the sherlock holmes episodes. It's the one with jeremy brett made between 1984 -1994. Really well made and acted, although Brett could be a bit OTT with the mannerisms. And sometimes he looks like a bloated vampire with all the white slap he's wearing. But over all it's very good.

Recently finished watching Season 1 of Party Down - pretty good US comedy series about aspiring\failed actors working for a catering company in LA.. I'm almost certain that it was somebody on here that recommended it. Really strong cast with Martin Starr, Lizzy Caplan, Ken Marino and others. It starts off okay and then really hits its stride around 3 or 4 episodes in.. some streaming links here for anybody interested:

The Porno Awards episode is probably the funniest episode of any show from last year.

I've watched nearly all of that show Jericho in the past week. It's weird, in some ways it's completely bog-standard escapist stuff and bad in all the ways that these kind of things can be bad. But it's very watchable somehow, this one, I think.

Just into season two of TP and havin teenage flashbacks!

Nightstalker is just kinda like a flashy x files clone (with some csi thrown in) which is unsprprising as it was made by that spotnitz guy who did a lot of the x-files and i know the original klochak (which i find very clunky but with a great sense of humour!) was a big influence on the x filesbut.....
anyways its nice to see darren mcgavin digitally superimposed in the first episode! i'd say it was a little too complex for mainstream yankee audiences - it was cancelled after 5 episodes stateside!

totally lovin Tarailer Park Boys! i only caught the occasional episode on tv a few years back so its great to have a few seasons worth to plough thru:)
