this. oh dear. actually i was following it keenly enough but completely lost interest after having a wank, and switched it off halfway through.

Hadn't seen this in years. Not bad. James Caan and Mandy Patinkin are great, and there's some nice dialogue but it suffers from being at the tail end of the 80's cop-buddy-movie era...Formulaic, electric guitar, cosy final scene, cock-rock end credits song.

Keeping it going, I saw District 9 today. It's fucking CLASS. I totally lost count of how many people got blown to pieces in it, fucking amazing.

last night was The Boondock Saints, first time seeing it again since it came out and it holds up well, an enjoyable shoot'em up IMO

Very enjoyable. Along with the apocalypse, the survivors lost their ability to speak, thus negating the need for subtitles. Bleak, well paced movie. I recommend.

Really wooden script and acting but a high quality headbutting scene and plenty lads screaming "cahnt" froughaaat the film rescued a draw for me with this.

Also I saw In The Loop and I concur about the fantastic swearing in it. Very enjoyable film.

Brought the nipper this morning.The 3D was pretty good but its a shockingly bad movie.We left a half hour before the end.Junior Ms.Gazzywazzy wouldnt wear the specs so I'd say it looked pretty shite to her as well.

Il Conformista. Very good film. The highlight is probably the look of the movie - every frame is stunning. Similar to Fellini in some ways, in terms of fascism/politics and the comedy moments. The violence is very understated, but way more disturbing than in more gratuitous movies. Thumbs up from me.

i was SOOO looking forward to this aftre the first one, and for the first hour or so it was great. then the pace of the film changed, and it was like the director was trying to force you to dislike the main character so you wouldn't mind the end. it felt a bit ham fisted and it dragged. it was still a very good movie with great performances, but up there with scorsese's best or classic gangster flicks like the critics have been saying? no way.

i saw district 9 last night, really liked it too. i still find it hard to think that south africans say "fuck" like that though. i thought the ending was slightly disappointing

They were saying "fok" and "fokken".

Several Afrikaans curse words can be heard throughout the film, including 'doos' or 'poes' (both of which are slang terms for a vagina) and fok/fokken (which means fuck/fucking). Also at some point, a sniper says "Kom na pappa toe", which translates to "Come to daddy".

I can't say I agree. Half the time he seemed funny and likable but a bit of a gobshite. Wife-beating and torture made him rather more unlikable. Likeable or not, you have to mind the end because, well, you know (I've forgotten how to do the spoiler thing).

Up there with Scorsese and Coppola? I think so! Not as good as Goodfellas but better than Casino. Much better than Godfather 3.
