Wow this thread is old. I've been a technical writer for a year now, after going through phases as an executive assistant, library assistant, waitress (that was a very short phase) and purveyor of olive-based goods. They were all grand except for the waitressing. Technical writing for retail software is a LOL a minute

in fairness, I've been living in Scotland for over a year and a half and I still struggle with the Glasgow accent. Gas place altogether.
