WETDOG
Stripped-down clatter plus tunes and catchy vocal harmonies: Wet Dog started in 2003 with Rivka Gillieron on guitar/vocals (ex-Reverend Pike and The Ghosts), Sophie Politowicz on bass/vocals (ex-The Ghosts) and Chiara Silvano on drums/vocals. Chiara moved back to Italy and Sarah Datblygu joined in 2004 playing drums HARD and unruly. Wet Dog are continually likened to The Slits and The Raincoats but that's just because they are three good-looking girls playing unusually good music. Sarah also plays in The Rocks. Sarah and Rivka play in HaHa Show, soon to play their first concert. Rivka and Sophie play in Vic Godard's Subway Sect and Sophie plays in Country Teasers, The Rebel and The Devil. Wet Dog are making up new songs together by the day and vent their musical genius by playing live all the time and recording their already back-logged 5 albums. Listen.

Also perfoming on the night will be

JENNY & THE DEADITES

Jenny and the Deadites formed from the ashes and effluent of various projects, but quickly became an end in itself…rhymes and non rhymes over heavy electronics…words vicious and twisted over slabs of boom and echo…as meaningful and meaningless as throwing a cat onto a bonfire…pretty and macabre, like a necklace of human teeth…

"Not a Sam Raimi tribute band, although their skewed take on hip-hop is
almost as twisted as one of his early films. MC Jenny Branagan declaims
her dark, brooding poetry over beats lap topped up by Ian McDonnell and
Dara Smith, combining into a minimalist hip-hop that might not exactly
cheer you up, but will at least make you nod your head as it fucks with
it." Paul Lazybird (September 2006)

A little bit of noise, a little bit of light and a whole lot of death…

Friday Friday Friday

" ….the remarkable Wetdog. There are an awful lot of bands around reviving the scratchy guitar sound of 1979, but Wetdog - an all-female trio whose funny-sad takes on modern life are wilfully unmusicianly but still catch fire as folk-inflected, witty punk pop - are my favourites. They've embraced the DIY era's contempt for commodified music" The Guardian
