might be your phone has locked onto a faraway base station it's lost sight of. Have you tried doing a manual network search and connecting to Vodafone again?

usually happens if your phones been on for a long time and youve been in a more-or-less same spot the whole time.

turning off and then on again puts usually sorts it out. really.

Cheers lads. The oul' phone is fooked. I'm using my older phone now, which seems to work.

Spot on. Removing batt and SIM may also solve your network woes
