uh oh. iBook screen problems (1 Viewer)

right, last night, out of the blue, my computer screen went black. it's 6 weeks old. it wasnt an energy saving mechanism, because when i used the mousepad it wouldnt light up. i couldnt turn it on until today.

same thing happened about 10 mis ago. mac support is closed for the day, but what the hell is going on? anyone know how to troubleshoot a problem of this nature?

This happens to mine sometimes (it's four years old). Usually hinging(sp?) the screen back and forth a few times sorts it out. It's very distressing though!

Like Helena says there, it's likely to be a loose connection between the screen and the motherboard - there's a ribbon cable that passes through the hinge, it might have been loose when you bought it. If it's onny 6 weeks old though you should be covered by warranty.

funny you sould say it, this happens my powerbook the odd time. its two years old though. usually i just power it down and back up and its fine. must try the hinge trick next time.

lala: if you only have it 6 weeks get on to them. Apple are generally very good on the support-side.
