Hey everyone,

San Franciscan graphic designer and electronic artist TYCHO aka SCOTT HANSON will be perfoming live and provding visuals in Thomas House on May 26th. Along with various releases on Ghostly International, TYCHO's album Past is Prologue came out last year on Merck Records. Gorgeously evocative in tone and laced with melody, TYCHO's music evokes the neon warmth of californian cities such as LA.

An obvious reference point is Boards of Canada where textural similarities are apparent but where BOC's beats are angular and obscure TYCHO draws from hip hop influences such as DABRYE and DJ SHADOW. His music also is a very fine complement to his astonishing output as graphc designer ISO50. Check out his music and work online at http://iso50.com/ or www.tychomusic.com

DONAL DINEEN will also be DJing on the night along with MAXIMUM JOY.

TYCHO
With his use of ambient break beat foundations, lilting organ tonals, and luminous underlying samples create a hallucinogenic web of soundscapes that seem to flow from the soundtrack of the natural world. Not content to settle for the soulless repetition that mires so much of today's electronica offerings in somatic boredom, Tycho folds layers of retro synthesizers over haunting vibraphones, hymnal organs, and wind driven melodies deep into a mix of downtempo hip-hop styled beats and deft production. The resultant tracks create their own lush harmony of aural emotions, as the listener drifts through an oasis of introspective rhythms and mood altering synchronicities.

DONAL DINEEN
At a time when Irish broadcasters were consistently failing to provide a platform for innovative music (both Irish and international), Donal Dineen helped create such a space on the national airwaves. Through his work on alternative music programme No Disco, and subsequent radio shows on Radio Ireland and Today FM, Dineen has consistently promoted music that matters in a heartfelt and honest manner.

No slave to the vagaries of fashion or the commercial demands of radio his playlists easily glide across a variety of genres and eras. Expect to hear everything from the euphoric Northern Soul stomp of Frankie Valli, the avant garde disco of Arthur Russell through to contemporary electronic pioneers such as DJ Koze and Dabrye.

all the best,
Darren

niiice!
got to know him through his design first, but his music is really pretty great too.
probably end up spending a ton on posters if i go to this

hold on...this is on in thomas house?! in the normal dj corner?
you're darned right it's limited capacity! you'd be doing well to fit more than fifty people upstairs unless they remove the tables
still, only a fiver so can't really complain!

I hope people don't go shouting "Scott! Scott!" "Atta Boy Scott!!" "We Love you Scott Hansen!" because I'm hoping to be the one to do that.

it'll be downstairs and fits a good few more bodies, and will have a proper PA.
DJ's upstairs and downstairs, like a London 2 tier super club no?
