Good day people, the weather is not the best at all this week, but we are going to bring some sunshine to Dublin this week in the form of the Trojan Sound System. We all know about the label and its excellent contribution to reggae over the last 38 years. Just to give you a heads up on who will be coming over we have a little breakdown of the members involved to give you an inkling into the depth and breadth of their work - if you like good music and quality reggae, you are going to love this night !!! Earl Gateshead
Earl began his 20 year residency at The Dive Bar in Soho, operating his own home made Sound System. He soon joined forces with a larger Sound Armoury 89, and thro the Early eighties the Sound played West Indian clubs and squatt venues all over Britain. During this period the Sounds main MCs were Maxi Jazz and Mr C. When House music came in 1986 the Sound were among the first people in England to play it. Organizing parties in London and abroad At the star of the nineties Earl became Saturday resident at the Blue Note in Hoxton in partnership with Bob Jones and was a regular guest at Gilles Petersons Far East nights. He later started the worlds first Broken Beat night at Smithfields with Bugs In The Attic, I. G. Culture, And Phil Asher. Ade Fakile at Plastic People then asked him to programme and D.J the now legendary Reggae Nights where Earl worked with Big Youth, Sugar Minott, Bobby Digital,Cutty Ranks, Junior Delgado, Adrian Sherwood, Little Roy.

Chuckie Banton
He was brought up listening to the mighty Brixton sounds of the early eighties Sir Coxsone,Taurus and in particular King Tubbies. Chuckies older brother, Sergeant Six, became a selector with King Tubbies and Chuckie followed the Sound. In 1986 at the Notting Hill Carnival, at the age of 14, Chuckie picked up the mike for the first time and sang. His sweet singing voice was a huge hit and he became part of The Sound, performing at the legendary World Cup clash with Java in 1987.Chuckie stayed with the sound till 1990 when he began his recording career. To date he has recorded 18 singles, having his biggest hit with the Larry Marshall cover I Admire You. His vocals can be heard on tracks with some of Reggaes top performers like Echo Minot, Joseph Cotton and Little Roy.

Brother Culture
First MCd with Jah Revelation Sound in Brixton in 1982. The sound was part of the Twelve Tribes Organisation, and Brother Culture was to stay with them for 10 years MCing the legendary Twelve Tribes Dances in London, America and Jamaica. In Jamaica he MCd at the KhakiFestival with Brigadier Jerry in 1985. In America in 1986 he made an album with Wackies. Moving from New York to Miami, still with Twelve Tribes He worked with artists such as U Brown, Cutty Ranks, and Nitty Gritty. Returning to Europe He became regular MC at the Dub Club In London. As the reggae scene in Europe began to take off In the nineties Brother Culture began to MC all over the continent, often as MC with Nick Mannaseh selecting.
In 2001 He hooked up with Earl Gateshead and MC'd Earl's Legendary Reggae Nights at Plastic People. He went on to be part of Roots and Reality with Earl and Daddy Ad and now Trojan Sound System.

Daddy Ad
Comes from Roots and Reality Sound System and has worked with Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Alcapone, Anthony Gunshot Johnson and Dillinger amongst others. He has a background as a drummer and is also responsible for the sound system's sound effects as well as selecting alongside Earl. Ad is the "mixdown" specialist. He has DJ'd internationally for over 15 years.He previously published infamous music and fashion magazines such as Jockey Slut and Sleaze Nation. Ad also works throughout Europe with the Godfather of Soul himself, James Brown.

Firehouse Skank
Legendary Dublin based outfit that have pioneered reggae in Ireland and consistently pushed their sound with their infamous sound system. Firehouse House consist of selectors Enda & Paul with MC Larry and we are chuffed to have them kick off the evenings proceedings for us.
