Thumped Cover Challenge No.4 - Elvis Costello (1 Viewer)

Lindbergh, Baby! shall be assaulting New Amsterdam, I think. Maybe New Lace Sleeves. Or Home is Anywhere You Hang Your Head. Or Human Hands. Or Party Girl. Or Sulky Girl.

Could well be true. I wouldn't let someone being a bollocks put me off their music.

I mean, I've bought Mumblin' Deaf Ro records and we all know what he's like.

I'd be disappointed if he wasn't a bitter, cynical horror who was always spitting puns in my face. Same with Elvis hahahahahaha.

I'll go first then.
This is Favourite Hour from Brutal Youth. It's just me and piano. I sang and played at the same time (which I never do) it means my voice wanders here and there and I had to do a lot of fixing up on the piano stuff!
Anyway, enough excuses.....

Nice job, Wilbert! Fragile, which is definitely not something you'd ever say about an EC rendition.

i might actually try do something for this, maybe 'i cant stand up for falling down'.
should be inneresting seeing as i cant play any instruments, can't sing and have never recorded a song in my whole life.

ok well here goes nothing: http://www.mediafire.com/?enjmzwjkday 'i can't stand up for falling down'

here's the 'nerd' stuff:

i got the chords and lyrics from here
i learned the piano chords here
whenever i got stuck i looked at this picture for inspiration
it was all recorded on a Tascam portastudio 424mk2
i learned how to use the portastudio here
i don't own a mic so i used an old pair of headphones to record most of the parts.
i used a tama rhythm watch to record the click track
then i piled the following on top of it (in order):

autoharp
2nd autoharp (put thru a marshall mini stack on overdrive)
nord lead 2 digital analog synth
large rack tom
tamborine
broken sabian 'el sabor' cymbal
hand claps (inaudible)
3 glasses of water being hit with a pen (mostly inaudible)
tin whistle (twice)
and finally 2 really bad sets of vocals.

it was recorded last night and today
it was a lot of fun to do
it's very noisy but you might need to turn it up
