i never got the whole blasphemy as a legal thing. i mean if you devoutly believe in a vengeful smiting bastard of a god, then you must believe that any blasphemer will seriously get it in the ass from same vengeful god, while you happily carry on saying the rosary and spinkling holy water on any man, woman or beast that crosses youre path?

From what I now understand of this, somone recently tried to bring a case based on the blasphemy laws as they stood prior to this silliness which necessitated a review of the current statute. I think no government wants to be that which holds the rather embarrassing referendum about removing blasphemy from the constitution and so I am lead to believe that they are instead making it basically impossible to ever prosecute someone for blasphemy. Sounds like a giant cop-out to me.
