This is the exact scene I remember from my one visit to the waxworks- it says it all really

I remember my Dad pointing at ET with a puzzled look " Whats he doing in there?"

The Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam is actually pretty cool. When you arrive they take your photo with whatever waxwork they have in the lobby and at the end you can collect your photo before you leave (included in the price).

It was interactive and there were actors as well as statues. So, there you are walking through a midieval gaol and suddenly one of the statues rushes at the bars and starts trying to grab you while screaming in your face. They have warnings that nobody with a history of heart trouble should go into that part though.

Very impressivie and well worth a visit. The only good thing I remember about the one here were the tunnels. They were fun.

My initial thought was 'what's Prince Philip doing there?'

I went to Marino Casino a couple of years back and I thought it was deadly, and I would have liked it at 12, but then I've always been a bit of a nerd.

It's not a casino in the gambling sense of the word btw, it's a folly. From the outside it looks like a one-room temple, inside there's like 18 rooms. Better than I'm describing it, honest.

Deadly spot.

Didn't seanc post a pic of himself with one of the lions from there in the self-portrait thread?

They've swastika motifs there too.

thanks for all the suggestions guys! my sis was uncool and decided she wanted to go shopping, so i may go on a viking splash tour by myself someday... :'(

The tunnels were legendary! one hot summer day i ended up in a pile up with Spanish students for a scary hour. i hope they include them in their new building. the tunnels i mean...

I think the Spanish students are pretty much guaranteed - difficult to find anywhere that isn't swamped with them during the summer.

ps I know you meant the tunnels ;)

I loved it there had so much fun with a friend. They charged us for the photo at the start though. The coolest thing I found was you could have your hand made in wax, your hand feels deadly soft after it. It was only 6euro. They have a really wide variety of celebrities in there too.

They had a pirates of the caribeannan theme on when we were there in February and this guy was just standing there when we continued on the tour. We presumed it was another wax figure and stood waiting for the next part to start and he jumped out at us. The entired group were pissing themselves laughing at us who were backed up against the wall nearly crying out of fright from the 'fake' guy coming to life. My heart isnt the same since :)

anyway, the Bram Stoker 'experience' is a lot better than it has any right to be

One of my old primary school teachers is the guy who created that. He's an angry bogger who got fired for hitting a kid I think. Long running rumours of him hanging up kids on coat hangers and he actually put a little fella in my class in the bin.

But man does he love Dracula.
Oh it makes it so much better when you actually know the man and can picture him in your head dressing up as the count himself.

Some Clontarf council set it up, my uncle is on it. I think Bram Stoker only lived in clontarf for the first two years of his life anyway so it's all a bit dodge as it is
