who the hell are Klaxons? better yet, why am i even bothering to ask this question...?

they are according to there press release :

"this year's Indie Rave faction will be the hugely-hyped nu-ravers Klaxons, who celebrated a triumphant Dublin debut in November when they played to a packed crowd at the POD, and who will be performing tracks from their forthcoming debut album 'Xan Valleys'."

nu-rave ? indie rave ? got to love NME

hows the new NME ireland edition ? anyone bother with it ?

it is filled from front to end with sound bites and nothing else
8 pages - 5 of which are listings
then there are pictures, big pictures to fill the gaps

i read somewhere that nme 'invented' something like a couple of hundred genre names/titles/references in the last couple of years
it's probably bollocks, but all the same i wouldn't put it past them...

D'you wanna go faster? was a class terrorvision song.

There's far too little rave in new rave

I remember they invented a genre called "Roma" back in the 90's, trying to revive the romantic style of the '80s...gave away a free 'taype' in a pink cover...never took off, suprisingly...

...that is, up until a few years ago, when the '80s came back around.

When are we going to have a '20s revival? I have my top hat and monocle all ready for action..."mammmmmy..."

Roma? It was Romo. I think that trend lasted about 6 weks in London, heady days indeed.

Magik by Klaxons is a great song. But appaently they do a cover of the old rave novelty hit 'The Bouncer', which is a very very bad thing.

That was Romo. One of the great lows/all time highs in music journalism.

Romo bands: Plastic Fantastique, Dex Dexter, Orlando, Hollywood, Viva.

The whole thing lasted about three months.

That all happened when I was at uni. Probably one of the only NME scenes I didn't fall for.

I wonder what Dickon from Orlando is doing now?
