Me - a Catholic: "owns"
My wife - a Protestant "awns"

y'see this is my dilemma

my mothers a catholic from the north, her family pronounce it "skawn"

Billy Connolly even has a sketch about posh people pronouncing it "Scone"( as in cone)

But recently I was told it's posh to call it skawn?!!

Is in Northern Irish thing, proddie or taig , to call them 'Skawns' then?

Sleepless night have ensued

you'll all be pronouncing it in Chinese (

flasht.gif
fu02.gif
) in ten years, so the argument is moot.

It has to be scone with an "own"

Logically, the other way would go like this:

"The doctor said I broke a bon, so I called my mother on the phon, and she bought me an ice cream con. And a scone"

y'see?
