Mastodon have completed the recording for the new full length Leviathan due out on Relapse Records in August.

The follow-up to the group`s acclaimed Remission album, Leviathan was recorded at both Robert Lang Studios (Nirvana, Bad Company, Foo Fighters) and Litho Studios (Deftones, Soundgarden) in Seattle with producer Matt Bayles. Based in part on Herman Melville`s classic novel Moby Dick, Mastodon`s Leviathan is slated for an August 31 U.S. release date and a September 13 European release date via Relapse. The final track listing for Leviathan is as follows:

01. Blood & Thunder
02. I Am Ahab
03. Seabeast
04. Iceland
05. Iron Tusk
06. Megalodon
07. Naked Burn
08. Aqua Dementia
09. Hearts Alive
10. Joseph Merrick

amazing! mastodon rules so much.

The Dudley Corporation return to Whelans tomorrow night for their first Dublin headline show since the release of last years "In Love With.." album. Large Mound are along to help cause a ruckus before the two bands set off on a wee Scottish tour the following weekend. There will be a ltd edition Tour EP on sale featuring two new Corpo songs and an exclusive Mound track from their upcoming album. The Corpo have had the pleasure of playing on a song on the Mound album and from what we've heard the LP is shaping up to be the rock masterpiece of the summer. This gig is hopefully going to raise money towards Corpo plane tickets to Japan, so please do come!!

Busy times ahead for The Dudley Corporation, they've been asked to support Pinback on their upcoming european tour and in September will head to Japan for their first tour there to accompany the Japanese release of 'In Love With..'. Whilst those two are still being confirmed and planned The Corpo head off to the UK for a couple of short tours and a festival in Spain. The first sees a 3 day jaunt to Scotland on May 28th with good pals Large Mound in tow, and another trip to England with The Tycho Brahe at the end of June. After that it's the Hoolaboo festival in Benicàssim, Spain, on August 20th and 21st.

'In Love With...' is the 2nd LP by Dublin's The Dudley Corporation. Taking their cues from Pinback, Queen, Drive Like Jehu and a little Northern Soul, Hot Press describes the Corpo as 'subtle, bolshy, smart, unpredictable cerebra pop with chords that haven't even been invented yet'. Since the first album they've cemented a position as one of Ireland's favourite live acts, playing with Low, Pinback, Rocket From The Crypt and Steve Malkmus as well as touring in the US and Iceland. The new LP was recorded in Scotland at Chem 19 with The Delgados' string section and features artwork by Atsuo from Japanese sludge rockers Boris. It received stellar reviews on it's Irish release and contains the band's first top 30 single!

"Buy it. The ghost of Chet Baker meets the ghost of Kurt Cobain on a sleepover at Burt Bacharach's ranch." - Evening Herald

"Masters of gentle, wistful songs and lush soundscapes." - OK! Magazine

"Sounding like they're playing their instruments while falling down a flight of stairs, then dusting themselves off for a brief moment of introspection, something special is not far off." - Q

"Complex, edgy, stop-start rushes without becoming too convoluted to jettison their tunes. Super-smart stuff." - Irish Times

"It is a John Cusack of a rock album: the songs full of a robust, boyish energy, an I-can't-stop-myself hyperactivity, a tremendous intelligence
and a tendency to go off without any notice on fantastic, mind-boggling tangents." - Hot Press

"There is so much greatness in this album that it can't be explained in mere words, a little like love itself." - Alternative Ulster, #8 LP of 2003

"a classic is born" - O2 Observer

Heheh. You had the deathly pallor of your avatar last night, Pete.
Thankfully Hugh and I were able to pick up the gear this lunchtime without being questioned about the vomit on the floor of the band room. Putting the bin over it was cunning.

on the 1 to 10 scale of the pete shameometer(tm), last night only warrants a 3 or a 4

one good thing came of it - we now have conclusive proof that the dudley corporation make me sick.
