I had concert on tape, it was called concert and curiosity...
I loved the curiosity side... sadly not on cd (tape died yars ago)

The Top is possibly the worst Cure album

Yeah, the Curiosity tape- Cure Anomalies wasn't it. Have it on taped tape
like The Unavailable B-Sides

still tho' that new box set should see a lot of that stuff on it but the rumours say that it's delayed till 2004

I personally wouldn't mind hearing a compressed version of Plainsong. I just can't stop listening to it, but I always have to lash the volume up when its on one of my Zen playlists.

Does re-mastering really mean compressing? I don't know the ins and outs of these things. Has Disintegration been remastered? Doesn't seem to be in the shops.

Was also listening to the Yuppie Flu version of Plainsong. Its ace high! Found it on an old tape of a Dudley Xfm show...

it doesnt have to involve compression. i dont know the ins and outs of it either but i think idea is to get it at a good level without altering the dynamic range.

i went back to disintegration recently and it isnt half as good as i remembered it being. some of it is great alright but they could have ditched a few tunes.

The extra tracks on the Disintegration CD - Last Dance and Homesick - could be dispensed with.

In my opinion the true version of the LP is the 10 track vinyl pressing.

It hasn't been remastered yet - but is due along with Wish sometime soon.

Jim Daniels - Plainsong is on the soundtrack to Marie Antoinette. It sounds much louder there.

i have been listening to disintegration a lot over the last 2 months. it is a great album but very overblown with strings and keyboards. while some people feel it is their masterpiece i would always go for Wish ahead of it and possibly bloodflowers as as well.

i cant wait for the deluxe editons of Disintegration and wish though! i have held out out on buying any of the other deluxe editions so far as they are quite expensive and i am not sure a bunch of demos is exactly brilliant value for the money. i cam close to buying 17 seconds and pornography.

i was in tower the other day and saw more re-issues of the earlier albums - this time the cds were supposedly recordings from vinyl tapes? or something like that?

the cure - great band, but their label "flaaaas" their fans with releases, as do depeche mode!!

I bought the deluxe editions online for reasonable prices and they're not bad. Faith has Carnage Visors while the demos on the others are hit and miss. Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me has the full 18 tracks [the original CD omitted one track].

The Glove Blue Sunshine is particularly good as a full demo album with Robert Smith vocals is included.

There's no b-sides on the deluxe editions as Join The Dots covered them.

A couple of tracks have slipped through the gaps - there's no remaster for Japanese Whispers.

Killing an Arab remains in limbo - not included on Three Imaginary Boys - due to 'controversy fears'. Still can be picked up on Standing On A Beach.

The original Fiction CDs sounded quite good - especially Seventeen Seconds and Faith.

There are also single disc versions of the remasters - would they be ones you saw?

Entreat is probably their best live album, although Concert very good (as I recall). Homesick and Last Dance make a lot more sense on Entreat than on Disintegration. The extra rhythm guitar on the song Disintegration is brilliant. The version of the song Untitled is pretty amazing too. I'm lucky enough to have it on vinyl. I think it's at least as good as any of their proper albums.
