That new Kylesa album then (1 Viewer)

Their board. If they don't want to talk about politics, that's Ciaran's decision. We've had this discussion before Dan and I agree with you on a lot of it, but seriously, get over it. That's kind of what I was getting at in the Amebix thread - really lads, yis are grown ups, and if you have issues with things on that board maybe you should take issue with posters directly. If I were to post every dumb Eirecore comment on there, they'd need a whole other board. Though they'd then lock that I suppose :)

Ah I'm only having a laugh.... metalireland keeps me entertained at work all day. I nearly pissed myself when I saw the post with your new signature over there. Pure gold.

Glynn - what Nachtmystium release is supposedly on Unholy records? I've been looking it up and can't find any..hmm..thought there was a release on Vinland Winds..

From a google search / another board....not sure if this is accurate or not.

"The demo "Unholy Terrorist Cult" was released on Vinland Winds, and a 2003 reissue of the "Reign Of The Malicious" album was released on Unholy Records, believed to be a subsidiary of Resistance Records."

But I'm sure somebody else knows better - I never even heard of them till this week.

....Honestly, I find a lot more of interest both musically and ideologically in that genre nowadays...

Jamie admits he's a nazi!!! :p

Similarly, having had a growing interest in power electronics/noise etc over the last few years, I have a hard time sometimes distinguishing what's shock value and what's dodgy.

Indeed it is and, as we all know, punk has its own history of nazi related shock value shenanigans. Check out this photo of Oly from back in the day.

All in all though, the broader implications for the merging of the DIY underground punk and metal scenes are well worthy of discussion. It's not like Ireland is immune from talk of racism in the same way it was before the Celtic Tiger. We're an officially racialised state now, with citizenship being based on a 'blood right'.

If things heat up over the coming years with the economic downturn, which they surely will, how likely is the significance of 'shock value' nazism open to being interrpreted differently over this time?

How far can ambivalence towards political perspectives be taken in a climate of increasing racism and xenophobia?

Their 2001 demo "Unholy Terrorist Cult" was either a self-released demo with official distribution from Vinland Winds or else it was directly released by Vinland Winds...can't remember and I'm too lazy to go root it out...

woooah there chief. there's not a whole lot of merging going on in fairness, there's just a couple of metal bands who've adopted an openly DIY approach and are comfortable playing with punk bands (Council of Tanith, Siorari Geimhreadh, Altar of Plagues) and a small bunch of bands made of people who have history in the punk/DIY scene playing something sounding slightly more metal than normal (DeNov, Slomatics, youse, us). There's still a fairly massive gap between the "proper" metal scene and the "proper" punk scene here and that's not going to change.

I should have specified, sorry. I wasn't talking about Ireland as such. I meant in the broader scheme of things, internationally. By "climate of increasing racism and xenophobia" I meant Europe in general. Not that it would apply in the same sense locally, but the broader implications in terms of record distributors and people that book tour for bands etc... or the whole reason that this thread started: you trying to get copies of Kylesa's latest album and the ensuing can of worms.

That's just my perception though, and I'm sure that you actually know a lot more about this than me to be honest.

Coming to think about it, is it just me or the riffs in "Running red" at about 2:20 and again 3:12 and thereabouts is dead similar to the intro riff in Black Sabbath's "Iron man"?

And yes, I am a nazi.

Had to make another post, because keep listening to "Only one" and I think it may be my favourite Kylesa song ever.

so people can be nazis even if they themselves claim otherwise?
based on a few loose connections and some minor shock value stuff said in zines ten years ago or so?
