When paying, should I classify it as a 10kg bag (27e)
or select 'equipment'
/ sports equipment (30 e)
/ music equipment (50 e)
/ baby equipment (15e)

It's just a normal bag and if your bag is not massively huge and heavy they will just let you on.
I have had tent pegs taken off me once or twice (potential weapons) but not in long while.

Sports equipment is generally classed as such cos it won't fit through the conveyor system and is manually handled
i.e bikes. golf clubs, skis
If your tent fits in a bag that is a regular bag size (it should) then it's good to go in as a regular extra bag
Might not be a terrible idea to try and fit it in another slightly larger bag with some other stuff

This is just my experience with Aer Lingus

Never underestimate Ryanair's ability to try and make money from you by being a cunt
