Hey drudes,

Recently inherited a super 8 camera from my dying grandad... Found a kodachrome film inside and am hoping to get it sent off before he goes. I just have a few questions about the whole thing. How do I know if the film has been completely used? Now that it's past 2006 and the free development at the kodak centre no longer applies, will it be expensive? Shall I be able to request that it be converted to dvd as well as on reel?

right....well youre going to have to send it to canada OR you can get it done in gunns in town... it should be between 20 and 40 euro to get it developed.
to find out if there is film left i would just roll the camera and listen to see if you can hear the film 'ticking'. maybe film something worthwhile if there is some left. also you do realise that one roll of film is only 3 mins yeah?
lastly, getting a dvd transfer can be pricey SO i would suggest(if possible), getting somebody with a decent 8mm projector and a decent video camera and filming the projection and putting it onto a computer. this should be a piece of cake for someone who knows what the score is. cheap and effective.

hope this helps.
long live super 8.
