Hey,

Im going to Amsterdam for 4 days next week.
wink.gif

Mainly to see this game http://www.footballderbies.com/redirect.php?wid=9&pid=0 and to visit my cousins over there.

Just wondering if anyone knows any good book, clothes or record shops over there? Squats? Places to eat?

I've never been, i can't wait!

Cheers.

is that on next week!! forgot about that. excellent- i'll be there too...

as for shit to do

squats (fairly legit ones but they can also tell you where the smaller ones are): check this place- its always got good shit http://squat.net/overtoom301/
and on the same street http://www.xs4all.nl/~kasbah/
the vrankrijk is a fairly major legalised one on the spuistraat, with a good bar across the road caleed schuim.
this also gives info on whats happening in squats http://squat.net/nl/index.html

food: falafel/ shoarma joints are good quick and cheap, especially maoz

bars: aprt from the squats, you should check out the soundgarden, a great wee bar on marnixstraat. also the buurvrouw and the dieptje on St Pieterpoortsteeg, a tiny alley off the red light, are fucking class- have been there til 11 am on occasions..

for coffeeshops, i'd go to rokerij, homegrown fantasy, greenhouse for good dope but most coffeshops are shit for hanging out in.

loads of good recordshops- get records and concerto on utrechtstraat have really good cd selection. for secondhand vinyl recordmania on ferdinand bolstraat and backbeat (http://www.backbeat.nl/) on egalantierstraat are deadly.

and, eh, ya, there's loads of deadly shit around. most importantly get a bike as soon as you arrive- essential!

"drugs and whores?" guys, please remember sam is only 15.

here's some directions to it - go to the red light zone and then go the opposite direction OR try find the torture museum and get lost.

the torture museum is easy to find. the tattoo museum, on the other hand.. not a chance. i'm still not convinced it exists.

there's a place called film acadamie, I dunno about now but they used to do amazing organic veggie dinners, 3 courses for 5 yoyo or so. It's an amazing place just to look around but I'm not sure how open it is.
Theres a bar there too, not that you'd be interested in that.

just go to the greenhouse cafe, its really the nicest one, amazing huge spliced stone tables, and the best drinkever, its one of those pick me ups when your too bifted to move tastes all nice and blackcurrant, good stuff indeed.|..|

also i could try find you the address of this skecthed out squat bar me and damo headed to, it was deadly since a polish lad was working the bar and poured polish size measures of vodka!.|..|

go to the rijksmuseum, i usually hate that kinda arty shite (and you have to pay a bit in) but there's loads of genuinely cool stuff there.

this info/book shop is really cool, the people who work there are friendly and they also do records and anarcho accessories.

it's fairly central as well, a bit east of the red light district near the flea market.

i'd imagine the vrankrijk could be a little intimidating, from what i remember it's only public hours are the bar which only opens late.

have fun anyway and take it easy on the bifter.

The tattoo museum was run by Hanky Panky but he lost his shop due to debts a few years ago and the new owners closed the museum as it didn't generate alot of cash
