Hello from compactrisc.

News, no. 1:

We recently released the "First Line" EP by Maersk. The actual launch was at the Ballroom of Romance (www.ballroomofromance.com) on the 25th of April, where Maersk played, along with Steerage, Halfset and Mr. Creosote. Somebody described them as being "like Fugazi playing Philip Glass", so I suppose you'll have to go out and buy the record to see if they were right. (There is also a video by Conor Ryan - who made the Herv video and who will be making the new Dudley Corpo video - for the track 'I/O' on the EP. However, seeing as RTE, in their infinite wisdom, pulled the plug on No Disco, we're stuck with a video and not much to do with it. Excerpts will be going up on the website soon.)

This is the band's debut recording, and is available on 10" vinyl in handmade outer and reversible inner sleeves that are possibly even more complicated to make than the Herv 7" covers, so get them before our fingers fall off. Available in the following places at the following prices:

Road Records (6.99)
Big Brother Records (8.90)
Tower Records (9.99)
Spindizzy Records (6.99)
Freebird Records (7.00)
Secret Book and Record Store / Mero's (7.00)
Things You're Missing stall and distro (7.00)
and directly from us for 6 euros.
You can also buy it online from Road Records at either

http://www.roadrecs.com/stock/shopping.php3?start=1&action=4&artist=maersk

or

http://www.roadrecs.com/stock/shopping.php3?start=1&action=6&label=compactrisc

We're working on getting national and international distribution at the moment, so hopefully those of you beyond Dublin will be more easily able to get your hands on it soon.

The band are also looking to play gigs around the country and beyond, so anyone who's interested in getting them to play, please send an email.

News, No. 2:

The next releases on compactrisc are:

risc005: Northstation 7" single. Northstation is the instrumental alter-ego of Mr. Steve Fanagan. This single has two brand new Northstation compositions, 'Sweetheart' and 'They Sink, We Float'. It will hopefully be on sale (with a special super-cool CD accompaniment) in July.

risc006: Herv CD album. All in the works. This will be our first album and our first CD, so we're going to be pulling out the proverbial stops for it.

--------

News, No. 3:

We have badges! Compactrisc badges are available from us at the very special price of ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. They say 'compactrisc' and are very cool. There's a few of them in Road Records, so pop in and see if you can get one. The lovely people at NOLO pins in Ameri-kay (www.nolopins.cjb.net) made them and we'd recommend them to anyone looking to get some punk as fuck badges made.

---------

News, No. 4:

The physical remix project is ongoing. It's your chance to creatively detroy some perfectly good records in the name of art. In case you haven't heard about it before, all the details are at www.compactrisc.net/physicalremix.

--------

News, No. 5:

The Herv "Warmduscher" 7" single is still available (in four different very rocking covers). There was an article about the boy Herv in the first issue of Foggy Notions magazine, and another one in the Sunday Tribune 'ArtLife' section at the end of April. Both of these will be going up on the website soon.

--------

The Mailing List; A Quick Note:

We recently changed over our webhosting providers, meaning that we lost all the old email addresses we had. This email is an attempt to start a new mailing list. If you don't want to get email from us, send an email to [email protected] with 'unsubscribe' as the subject. Also, if you want to sign another email address up to the mailing list, send a blank email with 'subscibe' as the subject.

--------

That's it. Thanks for reading. Write back to us if you like, we always like that.

you know the way you spend hours doing these things, juggling all these different things you have to remember, and then, invariably, one of them slips through the net?
