Petra Kronberger and Vreni Schnieder seem to be the two names that come up a lot but neither ring any bells for me, they are vaguely familiar. I was 10 when they were in their pomp though.

edit: although for all I know that article may be veering dangerously close to climate-change denial science, i.e. 98% says one thing but here's an article written by the other 2%. My point is that I'm not a scientist specialized in these areas so I don't know.

I don't know anything about sport but last night a guy from Advanced Pitstop called to our door last night selling cheap car services. The first thing he said to my 33 year old wife who knows way more about cars and shit than I do was

"Is your husband or father here?"

He did not make the sale.

And another thing that bugs me...

In most of these glass ceiling pieces there's an assumption that the woman does a better job than the man.
But

• Isn't it pretty sexist to assume - women are multi-taskers and great organisers and automatically do a better job?
• I worked with lots of useless people - they all were convinced they were were doing a great job.
  
• If you are not being promoted, then perhaps your understanding of what's required is flawed and you are working hard at the wrong thing.
• The world is full of assholes. If he's genuinely sexist towards a woman he's probably bullying his male subordinates too.
• Dumb fuckers get promoted all the time - that's not sexism, its work.

I thought we were talking about a newspaper article. I don't even know what "gender" means, tbh. I grew up among scientists, the subtleties of these kinds of things are kinda lost on me.

there's a pretty easy fix for the pay disparity problem too.
Make the paternity leave and the maternity leave equal.
Then there no disincentive for hiring a young woman (assuming that was the root cause fo the problem)
And both partners absent themselves from the workplace for the same duration (assuming that was the root cause)
