serious question about music grants (1 Viewer)

true story....
in cork years ago there was this thing called the cork music resource centre who helped out local bands and put on gigs etc....
nice bunch of people...
they applied and received a grant from some irish council...
rumors of alot of money...
of course being from cork they fucked it all away and single handedly set back the development of music in cork by years....
these are the facts...don't argue....
anyways today in cork there are a couple of people getting together to do sort of the same thing.....
they have already set up band rooms in the city and next month they are putting on their first gig...
my question is does anybody know who to apply to to get a grant for this sort of thing....
since it has happened in the past it's gotta be about....

There IS funding available from the Arts Council for 'organisations', such as you've described. Unfortunately, for this there is one closing date for applications per year, and it was last November.
Arts Council awards always have a large backlog, and so those who applied last November still haven't gotten word as to whether or not their applications were successful.
You'll have to wait until next November, and then wait until the following March/April for a response.
You should get a copy of their booklet on awards & bursaries for 2001 anyway. There might be something else in there. I know there are other deadlines coming up in March, but those awards are for individuals.
