"I wrote it about and for Norma Waterson when she was seriously ill in a coma at the time none of us knew if she was going to make it I went to see her in Warrington hospital with J P Bean and I wrote this song when I got back I just wanted to do something to let her know I love her she made it through ok thank the stars,as The lyrics say

"Your precious to me like Owens poetry, and I wish you well my heart of Oak"

I recorded three versions of it,sadly I couldn't make it fit with the last album but was happy to let Carice record it as she really loved the song.....looks like it didn't fit her album either"

Richard Hawley: ‘At night, invisible roller skates come out of my shoes and propel me towards the pub’

"it’s 11.15am, I've done my dog walk, I'm ready for the rest of the day – it’s a tricky time. Cup of tea, or a pint? And at night, between half nine and half 10, that’s the danger zone. Invisible roller skates come out of my shoes; flames shoot out and propel me towards the pub. It’s not just the alcohol though – it’s the people. I like people. I like listening to the stories. That’s my excuse and I'm sticking to it."

"I'm a post-punk neo-rockabilly – that’s how I was once described and I’ll have that any day of the week’"

Me too Richard, me too.

Second track of the forthcoming album

It's nice. Very Burt Bacharach/Scott Walker/Divine Comedy

I posted on Facebook that the vocal pattern on the verses sounds really like Horslips' "Power and the Glory"

Barry Devlin (of Horslips) replied that he agreed, but seeing as he robbed it off Jethro Tull's Locomotive Breath is was fine :)
