Just bought the white mac book and managed to install the 2 discs without a problem. Turned it off and all was fine.

When i turned it back on though it wanted me to install the second disc again. This repeatedly happened 4 or five times, each time letting me into the desktop only when i had re installed the disc.

Now though its having problems even installing the second disc, the error warning reads "The installer could not install some files in "/". Contact the software manufacturer for assistance." Ive restarted and tried again but no joy.

Any suggestions?

You can access Disk Utility from that empty desktop.

Select the HD erase and start again.

The default Mac install includes a load of gunk that you probably don't need (which is why they're bringing out Snow Leopard next year). During the install, instead of straight-up hitting the "Install" button, go into "Customize" and yank out everything you probably don't need. Then it should only need 1 disk.

The brother is installing a new update.

On the walls of the gaff!
