This starts next Thursday. I'm not sure what extra bottles they'll be getting in, hopefuly some Lambics. I was there yesterday and they have a few extra beers on tap. These are some Belgian pils(what's the point?) I can't remember its name, an apple wit beer called Newton and La Chouffe. They also had a tap for Westmalle Dubble but the kegs hadn't arrived.

If anybody who's interested in beer and hasn't tasted La Chouffe yet, now's your chance. Mine was served in a pint glass which I considered to inappropriate but I didn't say anything. Anyway, it's a blonde ale not unlike Duvel. It's 8% so it's more of a sipper than a gulper. It's way too easy to drink though. Really fruity, spicy and tasty, get it while you can.

Westmalle dubble is, I think, one of the best beers in the world. Porterhouse already stocked it in bottles so either way it's worth trying.

Does anybody know what bottles they're getting in?

Well two of the beers that I have on tap are absolutely excellent - Westmalle Dubble and La Chouffe. Serving them in pint glasses is madness though. I realize that saying this makes me sound like a pretentious prick but, restaurants and bars would never serve wine in a tumbler or something like that. I think serving beers such as that in punt glasses is just as bad.

On the other hand, €5.30 for a pint of Westmalle is really good value.

Festival is a bag of shite really. No extra bottles.

Indeed.

Had 2 glasses of La Chouffe and 2 pints of Westmalle Dubble. Very nice. Shame they had to be drunk in the Porterhouse. What a shit hole. What a weak attempt at a beer festival. Pants.

I think there's a Bud Light festival coming up which should be amazing if those ads on TV with the black guy/reggae/dog theme are anything to go by.

In fairness The Porterhouse, in about 95% of pubs in Dublin, the only decent beer you can buy is Guinness. It may not be the nicest pub, it may really comercialised but their beer selection is fantastic.

The selection of beers is fantastic, buh theres no point paying for a quality beer to drink in such a depressing pub. This goes for Temple bar, Nassau street and the one near Phibsborough.

Id rather go drink a Guinness in a good pub. And drink the quality european beers in the gaf.

Starts tomorrow yo.

Beers on tap include Chapeau kriek. St Bernardus wit beer, St Bernardus abt and Tripel Karmeliet.

Nae bad at all. Think ill pop in for a quick taste after work tomorrow.

Going to meet the auld lad for a pint after work methinks. I've already corrupted his drinking habit this year, so this couldn't hurt.
