Just make one yerself out of a pair of tights and a coathanger....thats what I did...works a treat...

I've a couple of these:

they're fine, i wanted metal ones as they're easier to keep clean.
also made a few with tights and a circular weave thing you can get in hickeys and such places. Both work fine.

I used one of those SE electronics sheild things once, I found it pretty useless for my needs. Could be useful in certain situations though. Maybe try and borrow one first.

You could make something much more effective with 25mm rigid fibreglass, or buy a real traps one:

I'd be into one of the big Dave Lee Travis sponge covers...I reckon theor ideal cos you could really nail the sweetspot by just being right up against it...

...might'nt be ideal in a studio situation though..hygiene wise.

By the way, has anyone ever tried those acoustic absorbers/shields for reducing the vocal reverb in a room? Like this or this. Any use?

Guy I recorded with had these and they're really good. Someone can just walk by one while talking and you can notice their voice become drier. Pricey but they work.

Their stuff for treating whole rooms are great too.

Cheers for the suggestions.

I have a home-made 'tights+embroidery ring' jobbie, but not sure how effective it is...maybe need new tights! Although can't go too wrong with the T-bone shield, so might get that.

That realtraps filter looks good, but a tad pricey for now, but will put in on my wish list.

thats exactly what i went wrong with. i can look tomorrow to see if i still have it, you can have its broken useless carcass for free as a testament to how shit they are and how viable the tights cat hanger it. in fact its not even as good as one.

I recently doubled up the tights for shouting...works like a dream I tells ya.....
