Poles (1 Viewer)

I don't think it's necessarily bad to say 'Poles', it was jsut a lame off-the-cuff remark that she realised after the fact she really shouldn't have said. Like the difference between saying, "That guy over there, no not the redhead, the black guy..." and "It's all because of the blacks!" only I think what she did was a mildly slurring slip-up that she'd meant as a play on words because he looked stiff as a metal pole or something. I didn't see it.

Maybe we should show her this thread and she can point out the spelling to which she referred, just to clear things up.
Poll can be cave too.
* Poll
* Pole (noun, as in 'firepole')
* Poul (as in 'cave' or 'hole')
* Person from Poland
* Pole (verb)

Poll na gColm, Poll Elva, Polldubh.

I could go on.

Pollnagree. Pollballiny.

Poll-Cahermaan.

There's a wealth of them.
There's also "Pol", which, I can only presume, is an abreviation of Poll.

Such as Pol-an-Ionain.

Heres a pic the "Great Stal" in that cave.
And its aptly named. imho.

And that's all just in Clare like.
There are a few more up in Fermanagh. Probably all have mad northern names up there though.
