Performance - Wednesday 9th January 2002, feat. Settler, 8-Ball, Ron's Mobile Disco. FREE ADMISSION. Drinks Promotions, visuals and other fun on the night. Doors 7.30pm.

Following the great success of their Halloween bash, the FREE ADMISSION Performance gigs return to the Temple Bar Music Centre on January 9th, with an eclectic line up:

Settler - Settler is a five-piece band from Dublin. They've been together since February 2001 and have been gigging around Dublin since then. They have released a debut EP on the Mango Music label, simply called "Settler", which has built the band a modest following.
For Settler, the emphasis has always been, and always will be, on the songwriting. Whether it's big-chorus pop songs, dark ironic drones, straight-up abrasive pieces, or simple country-feel goodtimers, acheiving a lyrical quality mixed with interesting sounds is something the band work hard on. It's small wonder that they are fans themselves of the experts in this area, such as Elliot Smith, Lambchop and The Flaming Lips.
Settler plan to start recording an album in January, and hope to tour outside Dublin after that.

8-Ball - This will be 8-Ball's second run with Performance, following their warm up slot last year they return for a well deserved second gig. Catchy rock riffs and beats and scratchin' from DJ Kormac on the decks give 8-Ball an interesting angle that most bash it out bands do not have.

Ron's Mobile Disco - Does this bouncing looper need any introduction? He shouldn't, given his excellent and well received shows at Witnness, the Red Box and in support to king-of-the-techno-nerds Richie Hawtin in the Ambassador recently. If his live shows haven't caught your attention perhaps his new EP on label One Louder will. Ron's mix of deep funky tech house and crunchy tough techno will be stomping and makes him one to watch out for at the Performance gig in January.

Performance is a gig run by students, held at the Temple Bar Music Centre on certain Wednesdays.

Performance is a non - profit, free admission gig which aims to promote quality live indigenous music to students and other people of Dublin.

Performance is NOT another midweek 4 band promo bash, but aims to deliver a quality range of eclectic acts from Folk Singer-Songwriters to bedroom Techno Enthusiasts.
